Formula Student Combustion China

In order to promote the independent research and technological progress of China's automotive industry and lay a talent foundation for the strategy of China's automotive industry from "a big manufacturing country" to "a powerful industrial country", the first Formula student China Competition was launched in 2010. The first competition was jointly initiated and organized by the China Association of Automotive Engineering, the Yiche Group, and the automotive departments of 20 universities and one vocational university in China. The competition called on students majoring in automotive engineering or related majors in colleges and universities to form teams to participate. According to the rules of the competition and the standards for racing car manufacturing, students were required to design and manufacture a small gasoline-powered racing car with excellent performance in acceleration, braking, controllability, etc. within one year.

This competition is a non-profit social welfare undertaking, dedicated to building a public platform for the cultivation and selection of domestic elite automotive talents. At the same time, through comprehensive assessment, students' comprehensive abilities in design, manufacturing, cost control, commercial marketing, communication and coordination are improved. As design is the premise for completing a racing car, the technical difficulty of FSCC is far higher than that of the Baja race, which is the only way to cultivate qualified automotive engineers in the future. FSCC directly cultivated more than 10,000 undergraduate and master's degree students. The total number of students participating in the team exceeded 40,000. At present, most of them are working in the automotive industry, and some elite talents have emerged in the research and development departments of automobile companies and component companies. In 2016, the champion team of FSC competition represented China's team to participate in the 2017 FSG, achieving the best result of single "straight line acceleration race" in the world and ranking 12th in total score. In the 2018 season, the platform introduced a live streaming platform with more than 20 million hits on site.

FSCC

Formula Student Electric China

Although electric racing cars have appeared in 2013, due to the number limited, from 2013 to 2014 the Formula Student China has always adopted the competition mode of combining oil and electricity and calculating results separately. The FSEC competition requires higher technology than the FSCC, mainly due to the comprehensive design and control of power management systems, battery technology, and electronic control systems.  Even though it is not a fully mature technology in both universities and the corporate world, learning by doing becomes a better way for. In 2015, due to the explosive growth of electric group and combustion group, coupled with the national policy encouragement, the industry investment trend, and the gradually mature technology environment, the electric vehicle group of the Formula Student Electric China (FSEC) was officially independent and became a separate competition. The first China University Formula Student China was jointly organized by the China Automotive Engineering Society and the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, exclusively sponsored by NIO Motors, and supported by Yiche Company as the exclusive strategic partner.  It kicked off on November 3, 2015 at the Shanghai Audi International Circuit (F1 circuit). 30 university teams from across the country participated in the competition. According to the plan of "Made in China 2025", by 2020, the annual sales volume of self-owned brand pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles needs to exceed 1 million units, and by 2025 it needs to reach 3 million units. The development of the industry requires a large number of design innovation talents.  FSEC is undoubtedly a product of this trend. Up to now, most of the outstanding talents trained by FSEC have entered the research and development departments of various new energy car companies and core component companies of new energy cars, realizing the original intention of this competition.

Formula Student Autonomous China

In 2016, the concepts of autonomous driving suddenly became a hot topic due to industrial upgrading. Based on the solid foundation of the previous events, China Society of Automotive Engineers launched the highest-level innovation competition in the series of events of the Science Popularization Center-"Formula Student Autonomous China", which is aimed at the master's and doctoral students of domestic universities to cultivate high-end cross-boundary talents including automotive, electronics, automatic control, communication, automation, optics, etc. Due to the advanced and interdisciplinary characteristics of autonomous driving technology, no OEM has made a complete layout for this technology, and there is no talent to absorb. The competition can carry out technology testing and path verification for cutting-edge talents required for autonomous driving technology at a very low cost, thus enabling the development of commercial autonomous driving technology through the competition. Meanwhile, we will open up the platform for startups and OEMs to use this event as a platform for more institutions and individuals to accumulate and share their experience in autonomous driving technology, thus promoting the rapid growth of the industry and providing opportunities for domestic industry to take the lead in the international autonomous driving technology.

FSAC

Baja SAE China

The Baja SAE China, an international automobile design and production competition, was initiated and hosted by the China Society of Automotive Engineers in 2015. It is specifically designed for lower-level undergraduate students and vocational school students to participate in. According to the racing rules and the standard for manufacturing race cars, all teams participated in the race shall use the same model engine and design and build a small single-seat, engine-centered off-road vehicle. The competitors must participate in the competitions including traction, operation, climbing and endurance. The competition originated from the United States. Participating students can acquire professional knowledge and skills in the areas of automobile structural design, manufacturing, assembly, tuning, maintenance, marketing, and cost control, to supply more composite talents to the Chinese automobile industry. The foundation for all other games of my team. The first Baja competition of China Society of Automotive Engineers was held in August 2015 in Weifang, Shandong. A total of 43 teams applied to participate in the competition, including 18 universities and 25 vocational schools. This race has become another education and training program created by the Society of Automotive Engineers of China under the background of automotive industry change. In 2016, the number of teams has quickly increased to 63. In 2017, the number of registered racing teams reached 94, with two race stations including the Wulanchabu Station (which was dominated by vocational schools) and Xiangyang Station (which was dominated by undergraduates). In 2018, a total of 85 out of 102 teams who registered were on-site at the event to participate in the competition. In 2019, the Electric Baja Project was launched, with a total of 110 teams signing up for the season, 11 of which are electric Baja teams, holding two race meetings-Xiangyang and Changbai Mountain. We are not able to organize the offline games due to the pandemic. In 2021, the event will restart in Xiangyang, Hubei province with 98 teams competing, of which 11 are electric Baja.

BSC is a new type of technological education and engineering practice. The competition is oriented by interests and advocates the modern vocational education spirit of "everyone can be a talent and everyone can show their talent". China now has over 3000 automotive vocational colleges and schools. Considering the current Bach competition is characterized by difficulty in design, large investment cost and high entry barrier, there exists a bottleneck in the design and manufacturing capabilities of most high and secondary vocational schools. Therefore, there are plans to launch a standard car team for the Bach competition, through the assembly and debugging of standard models, to cultivate the abilities of secondary vocational students in vehicle structure, assembly, debugging, maintenance, etc. The practical form of "teaching by competitions" has increased students' interest and gradually improved their professional technical ability, thus enhancing the overall participation and coverage of the competition.
